Shreekar Pradhan

Shreekar Pradhan, Ph.D., is a senior specialist in Cadmus’ sustainability and energy practice. Dr. Pradhan is an energy and environmental economist with more than 12 years of experience in the economic analysis of energy, climate, and other public policies with a focus on understanding costs and benefits of policies and the impacts on the non-energy sector. His work at Cadmus focuses on greenhouse gas estimation and mitigation strategies, cost-benefit analysis, and conducting decarbonization at different levels–corporate, city, national, and global. He is skilled in policy analysis using several economic modeling tools, such as regional and sectoral energy system models, global integrated assessment models, computable general equilibrium models, and dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models.  

Before joining Cadmus, Dr. Pradhan was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Virginia, where his research focused on issues surrounding the role of carbon removal technologies in global climate change mitigation, as well as assessment of climate policies like net zero carbon neutrality goals and 1.5 to 2 degrees Celsius warming goals. Previously, he conducted research on developing energy systems and macroeconomic models for energy and environmental policy assessments at the national level while working at research centers King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC) in Saudi Arabia, Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, and the Center for Energy Studies at Kathmandu in Nepal.  

Shreekar holds a Ph.D. degree in economics and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and a master’s degree in renewable energy engineering and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Tribhuvan University at Kathmandu.
