Laura Dufresne

Laura Dufresne is an environmental engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, cost/benefit analysis, energy efficiency, and communications. She has spent more than 20 years supporting the U.S. environmental protection agency (EPA) in the development and implementation of drinking water regulations including the Stage 2 Disinfectants and Disinfection Byproducts Rule (DBPR), the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR), and the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). She has written technical guidance manuals for EPA on a variety of topics including UV disinfection, distribution systems operation, corrosion control treatment, energy conservation measures, and nutrient removal at wastewater treatment plants. Ms. Dufresne has also worked in emerging fields such as green build practices related to water efficiency and storm water management, and energy efficiency for water and wastewater treatment plants.
Prior to joining Cadmus in March of 2000, Ms. Dufresne was a project engineer for CDM, Inc. and provided consulting services to many water and wastewater utilities in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Ms. Dufresne holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. She is a member of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation.
