Seven of the ten agencies in the top 10 achieved single-digit percentage growth in the 2023 financial year. The fischerAppelt agency group and the Achtung! Agency Group, on the other hand, reported a decline in PR fee revenues. At fischerAppelt, as mentioned, it was minus 5.1 percent, attention! has indicated minus 4.1 percent. The agency with the largest growth among the top 10 is ifok from Bensheim.
Ifok, which climbed from 15th to 12th place last year, achieved a 30.9 percent increase in PR fee revenue in 2023 to 21.6 million euros, making it into the top 10 for the first time. ifok was founded 27 years ago as the “Institute for Organizational Communication”. Today, ifok is part of the international Cadmus Group with a total of over 1,000 employees at locations in Europe, the United States and Asia. In 2023, ifok acquired the Hamburg-based communications consultancy RaikeSchwertner.
Henning Banthien, Cadmus senior vice president and spokesman for the management board, explained ifok’s strong growth as follows: “We were very successful in winning new budgets last year and were able to expand our existing business – also thanks to the expanded portfolios through the merger with RaikeSchwertner in 2022. These include Deutsche Bahn, the Federal Ministry of Health and the inter-ministry AI project Civic Coding. With communication on the conversion and expansion of energy and mobility systems, infrastructure developments and major platform projects in the field of digitization or data rooms, we stand for important future topics that we work on together with our customers.”
Commenting on the current year, Banthien said: “Our goal is to continue to grow as a company in 2024. We are well positioned for this. In the current market situation, we are noticing that our customers are more cautious. Nevertheless, we are looking positively to the future and intensifying our work in the multiple transformation areas.”
