Cadmus Awarded $1.9M Contract for Study on Residential Building Stock
Study Will Gather Data on Residential Building Energy Use Across New York
WALTHAM, Mass., October 24, 2018—Cadmus, a leading consultancy in areas from energy, water, and transportation to safety, security, and resilience, has been awarded $1.9 million to conduct a study on the current residential building stock and associated energy use in New York State.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is funding the study, which will collect data on single-family homes in New York state through online and phone surveys and through on-site data collection at approximately 500 homes throughout the state. Additionally, the study will assess market conditions for heating and water heating equipment to determine the efficiency of equipment installed in New York. A third component of the study will leverage primary data collected from building and market assessments to update estimates of energy efficiency focused on technical, economic, and achievable potential. This study supports New York’s nation-leading goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030 and the ambitious New Efficiency: New York energy efficiency target to cut emissions and energy costs by 185 trillion BTUs (British thermal units) below the forecasted energy use in 2025.
Cadmus has conducted large-scale utility building assessments across the United States. With innovative, accurate data-collection methods and the expertise in big-data management, Cadmus is setting the bar for helping utilities understand and meet their customers’ needs.
