How Cadmus provided high performance building support
The Claremont Colleges have relied upon Cadmus for more than 10 years to help meet their on-campus green building, sustainability, and energy efficiency needs. Cadmus has provided high performance building support, including Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) certification for 11 new buildings and energy audits/sustainability assessments for over 70 existing buildings on the Pomona, Pitzer, and Harvey Mudd campuses. This work has included energy, water, and sustainability auditing to support efficient facility operation; central plant commissioning; a central plant chilled water loop expansion; cogeneration analysis; district heating and renewable energy feasibility studies; and ventilation analysis.
To support Harvey Mudd College’s commitment to optimizing efficiency of its existing buildings, Cadmus performed “building tune-up” energy audits that identified and estimated potential annual operating cost savings and helped the college obtain incentive funding for implementation. Cadmus also conducted a campus-wide, geographic information system (GIS)-based sustainability audit of Pomona College, including energy audits, water audits, greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory, and analysis to support the college’s sustainability master plan and climate action plan.
“Harvey Mudd College has relied on the expertise of the Cadmus Group…for over a decade to advise us on the design and construction of our LEED-certified buildings and assist us in numerous energy efficiency projects. Thanks in large part to Cadmus’ thorough knowledge of the field and forward-thinking guidance, HMC’s green buildings are national models for campus sustainability, building comfort, and efficiency. We value working with Cadmus, whose top-notch professionals share our passion for and deep commitment to sustainability.”
