ARLINGTON, Virginia, June 27—Cadmus, a leading provider of technical and strategic expertise to governments, energy utilities, and private sector companies worldwide, received honors in multiple categories at the Environment Analyst Sustainability Delivery Awards. The Environment Analyst Sustainable Delivery Awards recognize Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) innovation, achievement, and leadership and celebrate organizations that make significant advances in sustainable transformation and achieving climate goals.

Cadmus received the Creating Resilient & Sustainable Communities Award for its work supporting the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Climate Resilience and Financial Assessment of Drinking Water and Wastewater Utilities through the Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) program.

Under CRWU, Cadmus assists EPA in bolstering the resilience of vulnerable communities by ensuring access to safe and clean water, leveraging the use and design of custom data-driven tools to enable continuous improvement, and enhancing the efficacy of assistance rendered to these communities over time.

  • Cadmus developed the Resilient Strategies Guide, a web-based interactive application that connects water utilities with information about climate threats and tools and approaches for enhancing resilience. This guidance helps users comprehend and effectively prioritize potential threats and identify vulnerable assets. The tool offers recommended strategies based on these priorities, considering funding availability and other pertinent criteria. Additionally, users are presented with case studies from other utilities that have effectively implemented comparable strategies.
  • Cadmus developed and maintains an interactive web mapping application that enables users to explore resilience-building cases from utilities across the country and gain insights from their challenges and successes.

The utilization of these data-driven tools enables continuous improvement, enhancing the efficacy of assistance rendered to these communities over time, empowering communities to advance equity and inclusion, and regenerate social capital through proactive preparedness, laying the groundwork for a more resilient and cohesive society for years to come.

Additionally, Cadmus Principal Chad Laurent was a finalist for Sustainability Leader of the Year. Laurent is an internationally recognized expert in renewable energy and decarbonization policies. As principal of clean energy policy at Cadmus, he collaborates with clients across sectors to formulate comprehensive strategies encompassing 100% renewable energy, decarbonization, electrification, and climate action plans. Laurent is also instrumental in implementing and advancing the firm’s sustainability initiatives.

Cadmus also received “Highly Commended” for its role in leading the USAID Strengthening Energy Sector Resilience in Jamaica project and the associated Jamaica Energy Resilience Alliance (SESR-Jamaica JERA). Through SESR-Jamaica, USAID and JERA have established a stronger foundation for Jamaica’s energy sector, empowering businesses to utilize solar power, train new installers, and ensuring financial institutions can support solar projects island-wide.

“At a time when ambitious climate actions have never been more necessary, Cadmus is proud to serve clients who are committed to creating positive impacts now and for future generations,” said President and CEO Ian Kline. “Thank you to Environment Analyst for recognizing our transformative work in support of the U.S. EPA to build safer, healthier communities through climate resilience, and congratulations to Chad Laurent and our USAID Jamaica Energy Resilience Alliance team on their well-earned honors.”
